The medieval village of Tourette-sur Loup is full has character. Its charm and its authenticity deserves a look at.
It is Perched on a rock in the middle of a superb, lush vegetation terrain where aloes and prickly pears grow naturally. Tourrettes sur Loup remains unperturbed with its tall houses and defensive ramparts.

History of the town

At the beginning of the 20th century that the culture of the violet had just been introduced in Tourrettes it had already been given certain amount prosperity, unknown until then, to its inhabitants.
During the Second World War broke, the village welcomed within its walls, refugee artists who, in the aftermath of the war, never forgot… Their presence attracted the first visitors. Tourrettes’ fame was on the move! In 1962, there were 1115 inhabitants, around twenty craftsmen and an already celebrated violet festival. Twenty years later, there were 2,727 residents and some 4,500 today.

Environment

The ideal climate in all seasons makes it pleasant summer or winter. Between the sea and the mountain and 14km from the beaches, Tourrettes-sur-Loup was renowned a century ago, for its wild and cultivated violets. The cultivation of this delicate flower is one of the main activities and the importance of the production has earned the village its title which is the “City of violets”.

Lifestyle

Tourrettes sur Loup is discovered while strolling gently and quietly in its pretty little alleys, its vaulted passages, its old stone facades restored with taste and its stairs lined with flowers …
In the Grand ‘Rue, in the heart of the old village, nearly 30 workshops, galleries of artists and creative craftsmen have come together, finding their own serenity and quality of life necessary to inspire creativity. Take the time to admire paintings, sculptures, weavings, jewellery, pottery …
Finally, do not leave the village without having passed through the 15th century Villeneuve castle and its superb little square. It now houses the town hall and numerous exhibitions throughout the year.

Saint-Joseph domainSurrounded beautiful Riviera mansions, here in the hills of Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Saint-Paul de Vence, more accustomed to accommodating luxury villas with swimming pools than trellised vineyards, they share a pretty vineyard, that of Domaine Saint-Joseph. It has less than three hectares in total, pampered by Julien Bertaina.
