    History of the town

The Roquebrune site has long attracted us, famous for its Vallonet cave, to date the oldest cave habitat identified in Europe.
In the 14th century, the commune was owned by the Grimaldi family. It became French during the French Revolution, became Monegasque again in 1814, then with Menton it became a free city in 1848. The inhabitants then decided to join France again in 1860.
In the 19th century, Cape Martin attracted all the celebrities of the Belle Epoque, of Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, who built the sumptuous Villa Cyrnos, where she was frequently visited by Queen Victoria, in Sissi, Empress of Austria, who loves to walk on the path overlooking the sea.

    Lifestyle

Adjoining the lovely city of Menton but proudly attached to Roquebrune, the Cap Martin peninsula has retained its Belle Époque face, and is renowned for the prestigious homes hidden in lush vegetation.
Stroll for a day among the fragrant roads that cross the peninsula, shaded by pine forests and mimosa bushes, the sound of cicadas will forever remind you of the pleasure of your stay. The sight-seeing paths will allow you to discover beautiful views of the coast. But it is from the eastern shore of the Cap Matin which offers the best view of Menton, the mountain rising behind it and the coastline of Italy.
