The story of the magnificent city of Nice dates back to 350 BC., then called Nikaia, from “Nike”, the Greek goddess of Victory. However, in reality, you should know that to get an adequate picture of the history, from today Nice area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Some archaeological finds prove that the area was populated even 400,000 years ago!
For several centuries, Nice was separated between the French and the Italian domination. It was not until 1861 that Nice finally became part of France.

A few steps away from here, is located the Castle Hill. From the top, you will be able to admire the “Promenade des Anglais” , the seaside boulevard, the baie des Anges, pebble beaches and its famous hotel the ‘ Negresco Palace’.
The city also boasts a modern city centre crisscrossed by trams and wide shopping avenues, wonderful parks with fountains, all within easy reach on foot.
Cours SaleyaThis is one of the liveliest squares in Old Nice, where the vegetable and flower market is held, full of bright colours and sublime scents coming from the greenhouses of the hills of Nice. In the winter time, the perfume essences overpower the mimosa that is spreading within the atmosphere.
C’est l’une des places les plus animées du Vieux-Nice où se tient le marché aux primeurs et aux fleurs. Là on y trouve des jolies couleurs et des parfums sublimes provenant des serres des collines de Nice. En hiver, des senteurs subtiles de mimosa s’y répandent.
