History of the town

The history of Golfe-Juan has been marked in particular by three different personalities who today form part of the city’s heritage: Napoleon Bonaparte, who, in 1815 landed in this tiny fishing village to march across France, Picasso, who created here many of his works both in paint and in ceramics and the multi-talented Jean Marais, artist, actor, ceramicist. Each, through their journey, has attached themselves to the city in one way or another and left their mark on Golfe-Juan and Vallauris.
