History of the town

In its beginnings, Cannes was a small Provencal village of fishermen and monks, its history is intimately linked to the history of the Lérins Islands which are the Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat Islands located a few hundred meters from the shores.
It was only from the 19th century that the city experienced a rise, in particular thanks to a Chancellor of England Lord Henry Brougham and Vaux, who by settling, attracted English and European celebrities. Thus, magnificent secondary residences have been created for their summers on the French Riviera. Like many towns on the French Riviera and thanks to this wealthy population, Cannes is experiencing significant development.
