    Falicon

    SUMMARY

Surrounded by terraced slopes adorned with olive and fig trees, this medieval village has preserved all the charm of the perched villages of yore.

    History of the town

The narrow and winding alleyways, often in staircases, are surrounded by ramparts punctuated with fortified gates; many houses are restored and adorned with trompe-l’oeil frescoes. The parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin, founded by the Benedictines of the Abbey of Saint Pons in 1624, has been restored in the Baroque style. The Carnation Festival takes place in March and is one of the main events.

Queen Victoria used to come to Falicon for tea: the square named “Queen’s Tea” pays homage to her.
