SUMMARY

Nestled in the heart of the French Riviera, Antibes is known for its old town surrounded by 16th century ramparts. The Fort Carré also makes the city famous. This overlooks the luxurious yachts moored at the Vauban marina. A wooded peninsula dotted with sumptuous villas, the Cap d’Antibes separates Antibes from Juan-les-Pins, a chic seaside resort with a lively nightlife and hosting the Jazz à Juan music festival.

History of the town

Antibes remained for a long time the only major metropolis between Marseille and Italy. The only town on the coast to have been surrounded by ramparts, it retains a rich heritage. Castles, bastion and surrounding tower are now transformed into a museum of modern art, a museum of history and archeology or popular traditions.

Environment

The port of Antibes is the largest marina in Europe, allowing you to enjoy nautical activities in sailboats and / or on a Yatch. Many cycle paths are also available for quick access to neighboring towns. (20 min by bike from Cannes, 1 hour by bike from Nice).

The best way to discover Antibes is to stroll between the alleys of Viel Antibes. To better soak up its atmosphere, visit it on foot … and let yourself be guided by the charm of its small artisan workshops working with the door open. But also by its shops, its facades in the colors of the sun and its Provencal market, a festival of scents and accents offering an infinite variety of local products. At sunset, relax over the water with a glass of Rosé de Provence.

The legendary “Jazz à Juan” has brought together the biggest names in jazz for almost 40 years. From Bechet to Coltrane, passing by Armstrong, Miles Davis or the sublime Ella … they were all there. Even today, the pine forest of Juan les Pins is the meeting place for “the biggest names” (Keith Jarrett) of Jazz and the stars of tomorrow.
