Thousands of tourists flock to the French Riviera to enjoy our famous long summers. <\/span>The C\u00f4te d’Azur is famous for the glitz and glamour brought by the Cannes Film Festival. <\/span>Each year the rich and famous come to enjoy the delicious food, glorious sunshine, and white sandy beaches! <\/span>As the summer draws to a close, and the tourists return home – the locals take advantage of the calmer atmosphere.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The arrival of Autumn means that the busy summer months of events, festivals and holidaymakers come to an end. <\/span>The weather slowly begins to cool down and slowly the leaves begin to change. <\/span>However, the autumnal months should not be missed! <\/span>We will highlight why the French Riviera is the perfect place to be during Autumn!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Weather & Climate<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

How warm is it in the south of France in Autumn or Fall?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n

People move to the French Riviera during the winter months to enjoy the milder winters. <\/span>The region is known for having more than 300 days a year of sunshine – even throughout winter. <\/span>The summer can be hot, between 82\u00b0F to 93\u00b0F (or 26-25 degrees) during the day. <\/span>Making the beautiful beaches a popular destination! <\/span>During September, the weather starts to cool and become much more comfortable. <\/span>Often the summer months feel too hot to explore, and the beaches can become crowded. <\/span>Throughout the Autumn the weather temperatures fall to between 71 \u00b0F and 80 \u00b0F (or 18 – 23 degrees). <\/span>The cooler temperature makes exploring the historic towns and villages much more pleasant. <\/span>However, the sun is still shining almost every day! <\/span>It is not necessary to wear a warm coat or jumpers. <\/span>A light jacket or overcoat is usually more than enough during the Autumn.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Beaches & Swimming On The French Riviera<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Is it warm enough to go swimming in autumn on the French Riviera? <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n

Occasionally Autumn brings bursts of hot weather! <\/span>On warmer days, many locals visit the beaches and some even brave swimming in the sea! <\/span>The French Riviera has many beautiful beaches that can be enjoyed throughout the year. <\/span>From ‘La Plage de la Garoupe’ (a beautiful beach in Cap d’Antibes) – you can swim in the sea whilst enjoying a breathtaking view of the snow-capped French Alps. <\/span>If you don’t fancy a swim, you can relax and enjoy a picnic or an Apero. <\/span>Many people enjoy sailing and windsurfing during the Fall and Winter months. <\/span>Making the port towns a year-round hotspot! <\/span>Antibes is the main port town in the C\u00f4te d’Azur and is often the most lively throughout the cooler months.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The French Riviera has some of the most beautiful hiking spots in France! <\/span>From the Esterel Mountains, you can look down over the Bay of Cannes and the Bay of Saint Tropez. <\/span>If you want to explore the Provencal countryside, you can travel to The Var. <\/span>An inland region within the C\u00f4te d’Azur – famous for its vineyards!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
