Ramatuelle Villa Rentals: Discover the town

Ramatuelle is a charming ancient village, which sits high above the world-famous Pampelonne Beach and enjoys spectacular views over the Mediterranean Sea.

The origins of Ramatuelle date back to the 8th century, and the village has a wonderful medieval aura, despite now being home to a string of very modern and exclusive restaurants, boutiques and art galleries.

The village was built on the peak of a hill, with its narrow streets winding gently around it in a circular pattern and closed in by ramparts. There are a number of shady squares, including the bustling Place de l’Ormeau just outside the gates to the village, where it is possible to wile the hours away people watching over a café crème.

In the summer months Ramatuelle comes alive with sound of music, during its world-famous jazz festival held every August. The four-day festival is held in the village’s Theatre de Verdure. There is also a very popular drama festival, which takes place at the end of July every year.

Ramatuelle is home to one of the world’s most renowned beaches, Pampelonne Beach, which falls in its commune. Here, over a distance of six kilometres and 67 hectares, are 27 private and public beaches, with something for everyone: trendy clubs playing live music, exclusive restaurants serving the best champagne, and beaches designated for families.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Ramatuelle is an excellent base from which to explore the area. Go hiking in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, or hire a bike and cycle down to the coast, where there is a huge choice of waters sport in which to participate.
