Situated in the western part of the French Riviera, the town of St Tropez is synonymous with the celebrities and millionaires who have been spending their holidays here since the late 1950’s. Despite the crowds, the town remains a charming destination and the villas that nestle in the hills behind the old town are perfect for families, parties and couples looking for a luxurious St Tropez rental property.

Perhaps the best-known part of St Tropez is the old port, which houses the town’s large marina. The gleaming white hulls of luxury yachts dominate the port and one can easily spend an afternoon people watching from one of the many cafés and bars that line the harbour. Those looking for some old world elegance should try the Café de Paris while those looking for a more contemporary venue should check out the stylish Bar du Port.

Many of St Tropez’ most popular nightspots including the exclusive Caves du Roy and the lavish Papagayo are located in streets behind the harbour but there are plenty of other activities to be enjoyed here. St Tropez is a great destination for shopaholics, there are hundreds of boutiques to be explored and every Tuesday and Saturday morning a wonderful Provençal market is held in the Place des Lices.

St Tropez also has a wonderful artistic heritage and over the years has attracted the likes of Signac, Matisse, Bonnard, Hockney and Picasso who drew the famous L’Odalisque during his stay in the early 1950’s. Many of these artist works are displayed in the excellent Annonciade Museum, which at the time of its inauguration in 1957, was considered to be the first modern art museum in France.
