Saint Tropez

St Tropez needs little in the way of introduction, brought to public attention by Roger Vadim’s 1956 film ‘Et Dieu..Créa la Femme’ starring Brigitte Bardot, the town has since been a haven for all manner of celebrities, movie stars, film makers, musicians, artists and writers. Although many of the cultural elite have since moved on to pastures new, St Tropez real estate remains a prized commodity and those investing in St Tropez property are sure to feel rewarded.

Despite its celebrity status, St Tropez’ origins are far from glamorous. The town takes its name from the martyr, Saint Torpes, whose headless corpse washed up aboard a boat on one of the town’s golden-sanded beaches. Nowadays St Tropez’ beaches are frequented by the golden tanned bodies of the many celebrities and models who choose the town as their holiday destination. The town’s port is another popular destination for the rich and famous, and a walk along the docks will take you past an exclusive array of luxury yachts gleaming in the sun.

St Tropez still retains its reputation as a party town, and is home to a number of hedonistic clubs, chic bars, and classically styled cafés and restaurants. That said St Tropez also has a quiet side; one can have a fascinating time wandering through the towns ancient cobbled streets and there are almost countless galleries and boutiques and some fine museums including the Annonciade Museum, which houses a collection of modern and contemporary art, as well as the Naval Museum and the Butterfly Museum.
