Mougins

Situated seven kilometres to the north of Cannes, Mougins is considered to be as chic as its famous neighbour. If you are considering investing in French real estate, then Mougins is worthy of serious consideration. Should you choose to invest in Mougins property you will certainly be in good company, amongst the towns former residents are such luminaries as Yves St Laurent, Jean Cocteau, Isadora Duncan, Man Ray, Catherine Deneuve and Pablo Picasso.

It is certainly no coincidence that Mougins has attracted so many artists. Set atop a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Cannes, Mougins has a picture postcard quality. Its narrow alleyways, ancient buildings, and stunning vistas give it an air of almost unequalled perfection. Situated in the Valmasque forest, Mougins also enjoys a fabulous natural setting and is surrounded by ancient olive groves, pines and cypresses.

The beauty and charm of the village are complemented by its wealth of little shops and cafés, and there are more than twenty studios and galleries including the Museum of Photography, which includes works by a number of famous photographers, including Lartique, Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau. The Mougins Museum of Classical Art is due to open at the end of 2010.

One cannot however mention Mougins without mentioning food. The village is home to more Michelin rated restaurants than any other region in France, including Roger Vergé's 'Le Moulin de Mougins', which is considered to be one of the country's finest. The village celebrates its gastronomical heritage every September during which it plays host to the 'International Gastronomy Festival of Mougins'.
