Cannes

Cannes is one of the most celebrated cities of the French Riviera and its name is synonymous with the glamorous movie stars who attend its annual film festival. The city is blessed with warm summers and mild winters making it a great year round destination for both tourists as well as those looking for property. If you are looking to invest in French real estate then Cannes is an excellent place to begin your search

Cannes is highly regarded for its picturesque beaches and for its luxurious cafés, restaurants and boutiques, the best of which are located on La Croisette, the tree lined avenue that defines the city's waterfront. The old town, known as La Suquet, is located just to the north of La Croisette and offers great views of the Mediterranean and the Île Sainte-Marguerite, where the infamous 'Man in the Iron Mask' was imprisoned.

Architecturally Cannes is largely defined by the developments of the late 19th century, when the completion of several railways opened the city to tourism and prompted the development of a number of large-scale projects including the Boulevard Carnot, the Rue d'Antibes and the Carlton Hotel. These were soon followed by the building of a number of luxury hotels, including the Mirama and the Martinez, during the early 20th century.

This era, known as The Belle Époque (Beautiful Era), also saw the building of a large number of luxury villas. These grand Cannes villas vary incredibly in style and were inspired by anything from medieval castles to Roman villas. Amongst the most prestigious areas for Cannes properties is the Quartier des Anglais, which includes the Villa Eléonore Louise and the Villa Fiésole, two of the oldest villas in Cannes.

Although you are unlikely to find one of these two villas for sale, Cannes has a wonderful range of properties available for both sale and rental. Please browse our Cannes property listings for further details.
