St Jean Cap Ferrat Property for Sale

The exclusive promontory of St Jean Cap Ferrat is known the world over as one of the most glamorous and sophisticated peninsulas on the globe - and for very good reason.

Situated on a finger of land which juts out into the Mediterranean Sea half way between Villefranche sur Mer and Beaulieu, it is home to some of the most magnificent and secluded properties on the Cote d’Azur.

Mostly hidden from view by palatial gates or manicured hedges, the majority of villas in Cap Ferrat are set in immaculate gardens which gently slope down to the sea below.

But while Cap Ferrat real estate is undoubtedly amongst the most luxurious of anywhere in the world, with price tags to match, the area has somehow managed to retain its simplicity which is all part of the peninsula’s undisputed charm.

While other areas of the Cote d’Azur strain under the throng of visitors each summer, Cap Ferrat can appear wonderfully peaceful in comparison, almost cut off from the rest of the coast in splendid isolation.

The focal point of Cap Ferrat is the old port in St Jean Cap Ferrat, a bustling harbour where luxury superyachts congregate in the summer months and around which are located some of the area’s most legendary seafood restaurants.

Meanwhile within a short amble are a string of intimate little coves and excellent beaches such as Paloma Plage, hugely popular with locals and families and a million miles from the hectic beaches of Nice just twenty minutes away.

The Cap Ferrat peninsula has been a magnet for the rich and famous since it was discovered by King Léopold II of Belgium who built several properties in Cap Ferrat at the end of the 19th century.

Other distinguished residents to have owned property in Cap Ferrat include Charlie Chaplin, David Niven and Baroness Ephrussi de  Rothschild who lived in the magnificent Villa de Ephrussi de Rothschild which is now opened to the public.
